Whats your opinion on shounen anime/manga?

Hey everyone

A lot of people feel strongly about shounen one way of the other.

Some people hate it with a passion for being (sub par) anime or manga
Some people love it and wont hear anything bad about it without flipping some desks

But more importantly what are all of you peoples opinions on it?   

Personally I don't care for it much myself but I dont discourage or hate on anyone who does enjoy it like some people do
It was what originally got my into anime/manga in the first place and for that I can at least respect it.


 I think its argued about too much

Dragon Ball is my religion! And Goku is my God!
Sometimes, when I need to see those pure emotions of 'never giving up', 'treasuring friendship', etc, I appeal to Shounens.
I like all the genres, but I would not pick Shounen as my favorite...
For me, Shounen is in the middle. There are REALLY good shounens, and there are those that I dislike (even though a lot of people love it, like Toriko).

It's impossible to discuss which genre is better, but we can talk about what we like better. (Gender Bender is my favorite)
I don't like when Shounen fans bad mouth Shoujo, saying it's like playing house, Barbie, etc. It gets on my nerves when people say that the world doesn't need flowers, only muscles, sweat and fight Dx
And I don't see Shoujo fans bad mouthing Shounen that much... There are some who are even ashamed of liking Shoujo o-o'

But in Japan, the main magazine that publishes manga is Shounen Jump, so I can understand why Shounen is so loved/hated...

I also really love the Shounen genre

when I was small I already loved Captain Tsubasa, later Dragonball, Pokemon and Digimon, later One Piece and all the stuff that aired in Germany at that time

I'm still enjoying them, like One Piece still airing, the old and new Hunter x Hunter, the current great obsessed Shingeki no kyojin, waiting for the second season of Kuroko no Basuke and lots of others

but of course I don't mind people who don't like it, it's all to people's tastes anyway so why upset about it?
I never understood why people start flame wars about opinions
